The T-zone in particular - the chin, nose, and forehead area are usually the most affected. Ecooking's Young Spotstick is a real lifesaver when you feel a pimple or any other impurity is on its way.

Why is the Spotstick effective?

Spotstick contains a mixture of active ingredients, which are carefully selected to effectively counteract skin irritation. The Allantoin it contains has, among other things, a calming effect on irritated skin and natural hawthorn reduces impurities by keeping your skin's bacterial and fat levels in balance. The hawthorn and Allantoin are supported by organic Aloe vera and provitamin B5, which nourish the irritated skin by cooling and moisturizing it.

Why do pimples occur?

Impure skin is something most of us associate with our teenage years, but many women and men are also affected by the problem as adults. Women in particular experience problems with impurities in connection with pregnancy or, for example, when starting or stopping the contraceptive pill. Impure skin is often caused by hormonal fluctuations. Periods of stress can also contribute to the intensification of sebum production. You can not avoid the fact that your hereditary disposition, ie genetics, can affect whether you will to a greater or lesser extent be subject to impurities, pimples, and blackheads.

Did you know that blackheads are precursors to pimples?

Blackheads or comedones occur due to clogged sebaceous glands. When blackheads occur, it is actually due to an overproduction of sebum in the sebaceous glands. Sebum is produced in the pores of the skin and consists primarily of fat and dead skin cells. It is quite normal for the skin to produce sebum, in fact, sebum is the skin's own form of moisturizer which keeps the skin well moisturized and supple. The sebum production is therefore necessary and beneficial for the skin - but the problem arises when the sebum production is overstimulated and becomes unbalanced, and it is precisely this hormonal imbalance that contributes to overstimulating the sebum production. A blackhead becomes a pimple when bacteria penetrate the sebaceous gland, causing an infection.

What to do to avoid pimples?

Your cleansing routine is the alpha and omega: A continuous cleansing routine is crucial in the fight against pimples. It is important that you get the skin cleaned and cleansed before applying cream, serum, etc. The facial cleanser helps to remove excess dirt, makeup residue, and dead skin cells, which help to clog the sebaceous glands.

You can use a fragrance-free facial cleanser that does not have a drying effect on your skin. Use a cleansing gel with a high glycerin content with a moisturizing effect on the skin.

Do not pop your pimples: Avoid popping the pimples or pushing out the blackheads. Although it is actually possible to squeeze blackheads out, you should not do so. When you squeeze them out, you add bacteria to the skin pore (unless your hands are COMPLETELY clean). When bacteria are added to the pores of the skin, it can contribute to the formation of pimples. At the same time, there is a high risk of creating scars on the skin. The best advice is to create healthy and persistent skincare routines.

What about food - chips, fast food, etc.? Many people experience a connection between the occurrence of pimples and impurities and the intake of fatty foods, sugary foods, or chips, for example. But if you look at the science, there is actually no proof that unhealthy foods worsen the skin. It can be very individual what the skin reacts to, so the best advice actually is to pay attention to your food intake, and keep an eye on how the skin reacts - and subsequently adjust your food intake.

Be careful with heavy make-up that clogs the skin: Oily or oily cream or makeup clogs the pores of the skin and can cause pimples. Therefore, be careful with heavy make-up, or at least pay close attention to cleansing your face before going to bed. If you use heavier makeup, we recommend that you cleanse your skin twice to ensure that all dirt is cleaned off the skin. Use creams and make-up without comedogenic oils. Comedogenic oils clog the sebaceous glands of the skin.

Ingredients to look for when you have impure skin:

  • Allantoin: Has a calming effect on red and irritated facial skin.

  • Salicylic acid: Extremely effective in getting rid of blackheads and pimples, as this ingredient has a keratolytic (dissolving) effect. This means that the salicylic acid helps to exfoliate/peel the pores so that the sebaceous glands do not become clogged. In addition, the salicylic acid helps soften the keratin (protein) in the skin, so that the skin's moisture-binding abilities increase significantly.

  • Natural hawthorn: Reduces impurities by keeping the skin's bacterial flora and fat level in balance.

  • Organic Aloe Vera: Forms a cooling and protective layer on the skin. Effective for impurities, irritated and dry skin.

  • Provitamin B5: A moisturizing vitamin. Many people mistakenly believe that impurity often increases with too much moisture. But in fact, the right amount of moisture is essential for nice, clean, and even skin. Oily skin can actually be due to lack of moisture, which is why the skin overproduces sebum.

Stress is one of the big culprits:

Looking at the science, it has actually been proven that stress affects increased sebum production, which can create additional impurities. Although it is easier said than done, your stress level can be crucial to the health of your skin.

One last thing:

We would like to remind you to contact your doctor if you are suffering from severe acne. Your GP can treat mild to moderate acne, but if you suffer from severe acne, it is necessary to consult a dermatologist.
